Iliana Adamopoulou
After 10 years on the path of Yoga, in 2019 I began to expand my field and trained as a Pain Management Practitioner and End-of-Life doula.
My inner need to combine scientific knowledge with deep personal healing and growth led me to study Somatic Trauma Therapy (Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapist) and was fortunate to learn from leading experts in the field, such as Dr. Stephen Porges, Dr. Peter Levine, Staci Haines, Dr. Arielle Schwartz, and many others. In 2023, I completed a mentorship program with these exceptional teachers.
My deep connection to the healing power of nature is what guides me, both in my work and in my personal journey. I believe that nature holds a unique wisdom that helps us heal the wounds of both body and soul. This is also the reason why I organize therapeutic retreats in off-grid, untouched lands. These experiences allow us to reconnect with our natural environment and find our inner balance, away from the influences of the modern world.
My training in Polyvagal Theory, with Dr. Stephen Porges himself, has opened for me a new path of understanding human psychosomatic pain and trauma. I continue to collaborate with him to evolve my knowledge and apply it in practice, while simultaneously enriching my therapeutic approach with new specializations:
-
Therapeutic model of Internal Family Systems (IFS) with its creator, R. Schwartz
-
Treatment of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD) through EMDR, CPT, Polyvagal Theory, and role therapy
-
EMDR professional training
-
Somatic Experiencing professional training
For the past 16 years, I have been teaching Yoga, with the goal of making this ancient practice accessible to all, regardless of physical or emotional limitations. As an Accessible Yoga Teacher and Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher, I focus on offering a safe and supportive practice to those who need it most, as well as complementing trauma therapy sessions.
In 2019, I became a Reiki Master under my teacher, Ifigenia Oikonomopoulou. The deep healing power that comes from energy and connection with the universe is yet another tool I use in my work.
I recognize and honor the fact that, as humans, we have the capacity to heal when we open ourselves to the love and blessings that nature and the universe have to offer. My work is a blend of modern scientific methods and ancient spiritual practices, which help me create a strong therapeutic framework for the individual.
As a woman, mother and healer, I continue on this path of self-awareness and healing, striving (and learning to be okay with the fact that I don’t always succeed) to cultivate my inner balance and love, and to be a resource of those for my family and the world around me.
